Interesting Fact: Japanese Courts
Yesterday a student, Miyoko, informed me that in Japan, people are hardly ever tried by jury. The trial merely consists of the defense, prosecution and a judge! I was certainly surprised. I would be worried about corruption in a Japanese court.
I also remember reading that Japan’s confession rate is astronomical (above 90% or something). But that could be wrong. If it is true, are these two facts related?
